Overview
Instructors often pose quick questions in the class to elicit real-time response (voting), direct attention to key topics (discussion starter), check pre-class preparation (speed quizzing), or conduct short quiz/survey after class (exit ticket or minute paper). Similar to raising hands and doing headcount and more effective than cold-calling, Poll Everywhere, a live instant polling system, can be very handy in such occasion. It is a tool available to DKU faculty and staff.
Request an Account
- If you haven’t been given access, please email CTL at dku_ctl@dukekunshan.edu.cn to request an account. Once added, you will receive an invitation email. Click on Accept Invitation to set up your account. This tool is DKU licensed, not linked to Duke NetID login.
- If staff or students want to create polls, please use Wooclap, a Duke licensed polling tool.
Note: Students don’t need an account to take a poll. All they need is the link to the poll.
Quick Start
- An instructor guide (created by Poll Everywhere) on getting started with Poll Everywhere is available here, which includes creating and presenting activities, sharing with instructors and TA’s, tips and tricks, use cases and inspiration, and frequently asked questions.
- To create a poll, click Create to select from the question types and design your questions. You may also refer to the Examples to seek some inspirations in terms of how to design the polls, group and publish the polls and visualize the responses immediately.
- To embed the polls in your slides (Powerpoint, Apple Keynote, Google slides, etc.), you need to download the Poll Everywhere Plugin app as suggested here: https://www.polleverywhere.com/app/.
- More videos and tutorial library can be found at Poll Everywhere tutorials page at https://www.polleverywhere.com/videos/tutorials/creating-polls.
