Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL)

The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) is often defined as systematic inquiry into student learning which advances the practice of teaching in higher education by making findings public (Hutchings & Shulman, 1999). The CTL nurtures DKU's SoTL by consulting, facilitating, and disseminating faculty's research on teaching and learning. We conduct study and publish inquiry findings as well.

Teaching Grants

DKU offers teaching grants to encourage research in teaching and learning. Applicants are encouraged to explore issues specific to teaching and learning at DKU, identify gaps, and develop evidence-based approaches to address concerns and challenges. During the process, the CTL provides consultation and guidance to help applicants conduct research and produce scholarly work.

Jump Start Grants

CTL's Jump Start Grants provide “seed money” for short-term projects that have the potential to be scaled up in the future for other funding sources, such as Teaching Grants. Full-time DKU instructors are always welcome to discuss with us and apply for the grant to explore any teaching-related ideas.

Publications

We’re pleased to see DKU faculty’s research in teaching and learning evolve into published journal articles, conference presentations, and other scholarly contributions. We warmly encourage faculty to share their publications with us to help enrich DKU’s scholarly community and inform classroom teaching at DKU.
