To support the mandatory classroom observation for DKU faculty tenure, reappointment, and promotion reviews, the formative classroom observation provides opportunities for feedback to strengthen effective teaching. The process is facilitated by faculty peers and the Center for Teaching and Learning.
This highly recommended formative process uses the same observation rubric as the mandatory classroom observation. We invite faculty participants to a post-observation meeting to receive constructive feedback and discuss actionable strategies for adjustment. Faculty are strongly encouraged to participate early enough to prepare for the mandatory classroom observation. Observation notes and rating sheets from the formative process may also be included as supplementary evidence of teaching development in tenure, reappointment, and promotion reviews.
