Description: “Every Student Succeeds” is not just a slogan- it is the mission for all teachers who could use effective teaching strategies to empower their students. This presentation aims to share personal hands-on digital learning and teaching experiences based on the outcomes-based teaching and learning over the past ten years at BNU-HKBU United International College (UIC). In addition to various assessment approaches (e.g., assessment for, of, as learning), several e-learning strategies and examples using Moodle to engage students and promote student participation and cooperative learning behaviors will be introduced.
Speaker Bio: Dr. Yi-Lung Kuo, Director of the Centre for Teaching and Learning and Associate Professor of Applied Psychology, earned his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Iowa. He served as Senior Research Associate of the Center for Talented Youth at Johns Hopkins University before joining UIC in 2012. Dr. Kuo received UIC President’s Award for Teaching and Service in 2016 and recognition of Guangdong High-Level Talent in 2017, while he served as President of the Chinese American Educational Research and Development Association between 2016 and 2018. He is serving as Managing Editor of Innovative Teaching and Learning. Dr. Kuo’s research interests include social and emotional learning, large-scale assessments in education and development of innovative assessments. Prior to being devoted to academia, he was a middle school special education teacher in Taiwan.
